Trend Alert - Trash Cleanup Hike as a Team Event

The Manpower team recently joined our guide, Signe Ohakas, and marine biologist, Kerli Lauri, for a hike and trash cleanup at Rohuneeme on the Viimsi Peninsula. Since this wasn’t their first event with us, we asked Evelin Bachmann, Manpower’s Sustainability & ESG Coordinator, why they keep coming back to nature with us.

How do you rate the trash cleanup hike as a team event?

We were very satisfied once again—this combined activity has always been a team favorite. Active movement in the fresh air, coupled with a useful activity and an educational aspect, provides a much-needed break from our sedentary work while contributing to a cleaner Estonia.

These events highlight individual potential and our connection to the environment. We can foster a worldview where everyone can make a difference. We love the joy of doing good together and enhancing teamwork skills, which is evident in our office collaboration.

What were your expectations and goals when deciding on a nature team event? Did they meet your expectations?

Our expectations and goals are always met—the hardest part is taking the first step, getting up, and reaching the hike’s starting point. Once on the trail, work thoughts quickly disappear, moods improve, and energy levels rise. In the end, we’re always glad we took the path and gained a bit more knowledge about the natural environment.

What special and memorable moments did your team experience on this hike?

Seeing hops in nature was special for us. We remember a large boulder, a hidden seaside spot we wouldn’t have found otherwise, the time spent together, and the interesting knowledge we gained about the sea and nature.

What advantages do you see in organizing your team events with us?

The thorough preliminary work done by Wanderlust is a major advantage. We can trust that the trail has been checked to avoid surprises like “Oops, we can’t go this way!” The area’s history is researched, and points of interest are selected in advance. The best part is being able to show up and simply enjoy the journey.

The trash cleanup hike with the Manpower team was also exciting for us, especially since we had never hiked with a marine biologist before. We appreciate clients bringing great ideas that make our work even more exciting.

This cleanup hike was a perfect example of how our experiences and client desires lead us to explore new paths together. We’re happy to support initiatives that strengthen teams and help clean the world. We look forward to future adventures and new ideas we can achieve together.
