The Hilding Anders Team: Why Do We Keep Coming Back to the Trail?
If you’re looking for inspiration on how to strengthen your team’s bond and offer a genuine mental refresh, this story is for you. The team at Hilding Anders has found a way to combine movement, nature, and team spirit into something truly meaningful. We spoke with their HR Manager, Carmen Froš, to learn how hiking together has become a beloved tradition—and why they keep choosing Wanderlust as their partner.
How did it all begin?
“Our team events have always leaned towards being active, for as long as I can remember,” Carmen explains. Since she personally values an active lifestyle—and many employees in the company are also quite sporty—the hiking tradition came about naturally. What’s even better, she says, is that hiking is inclusive: “You don’t need an athletic background to take part. That’s a big reason why it resonates with so many of us.”
What type of hiking should you choose for a team hike?
The Hilding Anders team has now been hiking with us four times—some on foot, others on e-fatbikes. Why those two formats? Carmen says they offer different, but equally valuable, experiences: “Hiking on foot allows for a slower pace and deeper presence—it’s a great time for longer conversations and diving in the nature. E-fatbike tours, on the other hand, bring more adrenaline and excitement. The shared thrill creates an instant team bond. We’ve let participants choose the format that suits them best, and that’s worked out really well.”

What does a shared experience in nature bring to the team?
When asked why they keep returning to the trail, Carmen’s answer is clear: “Hiking in nature gives us the chance to truly unplug—to step away from daily tasks and roles, from meetings, emails, and screens. Out there, we’re just people, not just coworkers.”
She says the conversations that emerge in the forest are very different from those in the office. Fresh air, movement, and shared experiences energize the team, build unity, and help everyone feel valued. “After each hike, we come back recharged and more connected. It’s like a mini reset every time.”
How would you describe working with Wanderlust Matkad?
“Our collaboration with Wanderlust Matkad has been both highly professional and genuinely personal,” Carmen says, praising the team. She highlights that what matters most to them is flexibility, consideration for different abilities and needs, and a strong attention to detail.

What are your team’s plans for the future?
While there’s no specific destination on the calendar just yet, the team is always open to new ideas—especially ones that bring that “WOW” factor. “We keep our eyes open. If something fun and different comes along, we’re absolutely ready to jump in,” says Carmen.
Why do you think more companies should take their teams hiking?
Carmen has a simple but powerful message for other organizations: “Hiking isn’t just exercise or a leisure activity—it’s an investment in your team’s mental well-being and relationships. Shared moments in nature bring people together and create an environment where everyone feels seen and supported.”
Her advice: offer variety and let people choose the format that works for them. That way, everyone can find something that speaks to them. And don’t forget to wrap up the day at a pop-up forest restaurant, sharing stories over a good meal—it’s the perfect ending to an active day.
In Summary
Hilding Anders’ experience shows that hiking is much more than just walking in the woods—it’s a conscious choice to support team well-being, motivation, and connection. Their story is a great example of how a thoughtfully planned hiking format can work for everyone—whether it’s a peacefull walk or a high-energy e-fatbike ride. And when all of this takes place in Estonia’s beautiful nature and is professionally organized, the result is an experience that sticks with people for a long time.
