Meet the newest Wanderlust interns

Every autumn, we organize an internship competition and select those with the spark in their eyes that Wanderlust expects from its guides. This time, we have chosen three driven students, each with an interesting background. Read on to get to know our newest interns.

ANDRES ARENDI

First, let us introduce Andres Arendi, whose love for nature started in childhood. In third grade, he diligently wrote in an essay that his dream job was to become a forest ranger. “Now, decades later, that secret wish has never faded. Even though life has led me to an office desk, I still draw energy from nature, experiencing forests, the sea, meadows, and mountains with all my senses. I want to share this passion professionally and engagingly with others,” he adds with a smile.

Andres is studying outdoor guiding at Luua Forestry School and aims to offer people experiences that help them build a deeper connection with nature. He has previous experience organizing hikes with friends and colleagues, assisting as a guide in children’s camps, and leading adventure trips. In addition to his passion for hiking, Andres is active in community work—he has volunteered in various projects and helped organize music festivals, enjoying the process of inspiring and engaging people.

His interest in nature and hiking goes beyond just walking trails—Andres hopes to develop his skills in snowshoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding while discovering new places in Estonia’s wilderness. At Wanderlust, he looks forward to learning from experienced guides and sharing his love for nature with others.

VIIVE-KAI REBANE

Next, meet our intern Viive-Kai Rebane, whose passion for nature, people, and visual storytelling makes her a great addition to the Wanderlust team!

Viive-Kai is studying outdoor guiding at Luua Forestry School and actively works as a photographer and videographer (check out her work here). Her big dream is to combine these two worlds—allowing people to experience the beauty of nature both through hiking and through the camera lens. Living in Hiiumaa, Viive-Kai believes that the more time we spend in nature, the better we learn to appreciate and protect it.

In addition to nature, sports have always played an important role in Viive-Kai’s life—she is a former professional basketball player and understands how crucial physical activity is for both mental and physical well-being. Her goal is to inspire people to be more active in nature and help them find balance between everyday life and the outdoors.

KARL KADAK

The third intern joining us this season is Karl Kadak. Like any Wanderlust intern, he has a deep connection to nature and a passion for hiking.

Karl is studying outdoor guiding at Luua Forestry School, but his background is in engineering and road construction. He graduated from Tallinn University of Technology and works daily as an engineer. However, besides his office job, he also wants to dedicate time to what has fascinated him since childhood—hiking and outdoor adventures.

Originally from Saaremaa, Karl spent his childhood fishing by the river in spring, cooling off in the sea during summer hikes, filling his basket with mushrooms in autumn, and gliding on the ice in winter. He has also organized trips for his friends and believes that one of the best ways to discover both yourself and nature is through hiking—whether on foot, by bike, or on the water.

Karl’s goal is to bring others into nature, help them rediscover it, and teach them to appreciate it more. During his internship at Wanderlust, he hopes to refine his guiding skills and share his enthusiasm for hiking with others.

DO YOU SEE YOURSELF AS A FUTURE OUTDOOR GUIDE?

In Estonia, there are several study programs that prepare you for working with people in nature. Our internship is open to students from all these programs. The Wanderlust internship lasts for one academic year, during which interns have the opportunity to accompany our guides and instructors, helping to organize various hikes and events. The next application round for the Wanderlust internship will take place in autumn 2025.

If you are already an experienced outdoor guide, nature guide, or active recreation instructor and would like to join Wanderlust, get in touch with us!
